It was wonderful to visit St David Lewis and St Francis Xavier Catholic Church Food Kitchen in Usk and see the extraordinary progress that has been made since I helped start this initiative during the pandemic.
Now with a 5* hygiene rating and delicious meals being made from scratch, from kind monetary donations, Usk Catholic Church, St Mary’s Usk Town and kind volunteers offer those that need, for whatever reason, a free hot meal on Tuesdays and Thursdays - with a social event held in the Catholic Church Hall too on Tuesdays - games, films, speakers and such.
They serve, on average, 45 meals to Usk residents a day and some are delivered to their houses.
Over 12,000 meals have now been prepared since this amazing volunteering group was set up during COVID.
It’s a delight to see that Gloria and team have taken it from strength to strength, since those early days
Massive well done to Gloria Dolan, Dee, Wendy, the churches and all the team of volunteers - including local Tony Kear, County Councillor for Llanbadoc and Usk Ward
