I have been fighting to ensure that every student in Wales is able to access University and pressing the Welsh Government to take a deep look into why certain groups in Wales are missing out on this opportunity.
I questioned FM Mark Drakeford on why working-class white men are the least likely to go to University and urged him to look into the root cause of this.
When questioning him on this crucial issue, I said:
"We cannot and should not cosign a generation of white, working-class young men to the dustbin of history in the name of diversity, or anything else"
Sadly, the First Minister, instead of addressing this deep inequality, classified my question as a form of culture war and used degree apprenticeships as the excuse for why white working-class boys' admission numbers are so low.
However, after looking into this, it was clear that even with this data included, there was no way this could make up for the low number of white working-class boys reaching university.
It's clear Welsh Labour and the First Minister have failed our boys.
I said that: "the problem still remains: we are seeing low numbers of university admissions for white-working males" and called for him to stop the blame game and start getting to the bottom of the issue".
