Senedd Member for South Wales East, Laura Anne Jones, has today backed calls for schools across Wales and the United Kingdom to celebrate ‘One Britain One Nation’ Day on 25th June. The occasion has been created by the organisation OBON (One Britain One Nation) and has the backing of celebrities such as Joanna Lumley.
OBON wants to see every child develop a strong emotional and meaningful connection with our country and its people by recognising that we are all one people with a role to play in the life of our nation where everyone must feel happy, safe and valued.
Commenting on the celebration, Miss Jones said:
‘Our United Kingdom is held together by common bonds and shared values which make us stronger together, no matter where someone was born.
‘I absolutely endorse the objectives behind ‘One Britain, One Nation’, cherishing all that is Great about Britain and would like to see people of all ages across the country taking part.’
