Laura Anne Jones served as the Assembly Member for South Wales East from 2003 to 2007, during which time she was the Assembly's Shadow Minister for Sport.
From 2017, Laura was elected as a County Councillor for Wyesham in Monmouth. She proudly accepted the appointment of the County's Armed Forces Champion and Vice Chairman of the Children and Young People's Select Committee. She took a keen interest in opportunities and attainments for vulnerable children in the region.
Laura returned to the Welsh Parliament in July 2020, as the MS for South Wales
East. Following her election Laura was appointed to the Senedd's Shadow
Cabinet as Shadow Minister for Equalities, Children and Young People. In
May 2021, Laura was re-elected by the people of South Wales East and was
given the position of Shadow Cabinet Member for Education. She is the Proud Chairman of the Welsh Conservative Group.
A farmer’s daughter, Laura was born in Usk and educated at Caerleon
Comprehensive and Plymouth University. Laura supports a wide range
of local community activities across the constituency and in 2020 ran a
number of Coronavirus support groups to help vulnerable and
shielding families. Laura has successful run her own business.
